What is a suppression list?

A suppression list is a collection of email addresses or domains that are excluded from your email marketing campaigns or communications. They can also be labeled as "inactive".

Different SMTP providers can have different names for the types of suppressions.

These are four common types of suppressions:

  • Hard bounces
  • Unsubscribes
  • Spam Complaints
  • Manually Added

By maintaining a suppression list, you ensure that you do not send any further communications to these recipients, helping you stay compliant with email marketing regulations and maintain a positive sender reputation.
